Offering service from fully qualified arborists, Treespace Solutions can provide you with what you need to help you understand the condition or significance of your trees. We come to your site and spend time inspecting not only the tree, but also the surrounding area including buildings, soil and other vegetation; resulting in a personalised report. At this point, and taking into account any requirements of your own, our arborist will write a document for you to keep or distribute as required.

Our people
Matthew is a consultant arborist and horticulturalist who has worked in the landscape and arboriculture industry since 1994. With tertiary qualifications in horticulture, arboriculture and landscape architecture, Matthew has worked in a number of aspects of the horticulture industry (both private and public sector) in Melbourne. His background was in landscape management, design, and consultancy with Naturelinks Pty Ltd, where he established Treespace Solutions. Among other roles, he’s been involved with the preparation of vegetation assessments, tree protection and management plans for residential and commercial developments as well as private residences including landscape design and the management of projects.
His additional qualifications include:
• Construction Induction Card (White Card)
• Working with Children Check
• Metro Safety & Environmental Induction
• Victorian Level 1 Train Track Safety Awareness
• Safely Access the Rail Corridor
Simon is a consultant arborist and landscape heritage consultant who has worked in the field of landscape management since 1996. With particular expertise in the assessment and management of heritage trees, Simon has worked on many heritage tree assessments and replacement strategies; including heritage tree and landscape assessments for sites of local and state significance for planning applications, planning amendments and Heritage Victoria registrations. Simon has provided numerous Expert Witness Statements together with VCAT representations over the years, and has tertiary qualifications in horticulture and landscape architecture:
• Bachelor of Applied Science (Hort), University of Melbourne
• Grad. Dip. Planning and Design (LArch), University of Melbourne
Other skills include:
• Landscape heritage assessments, conservation analyses, heritage impact assessments and significant tree studies;
• Data collection and GIS mapping for major road, rail, power and water infrastructure projects;
• Impact assessments for Environmental Effects Statements (EES);
• Supervision and certification of construction works;
• Street tree strategies.
Simon is a member of Arboriculture Australia and the International Society of Arboriculture and brings a unique skill set to any project.
Sean is a consultant arborist and has worked in the arboriculture industry since 1996 and obtained his Graduate Certificate of Arboriculture from the University of Melbourne (Burnley) in 2014. Sean has worked in all aspects of the arboriculture industry in the private sector in Canberra, London and Melbourne; including the preparation of vegetation assessments, as well as tree protection and management plans for residential and commercial developments and private residences. Sean is a member of the Victorian Tree Industry Organisation and is a qualified QTRA Practitioner.
His specialities include:
• Tree risk assessments for electricity providers, schools, private and commercial landowners
• Supervision and certification of construction works around trees
• Expert witness statements
Jason Clifford has a background in environmental studies before specialising in urban forestry and arboriculture. Jason is an AQF Level VIII qualified arborist and has the following qualifications:
Graduate Certificate in Arboriculture (University of Melbourne)
Master of Environment (University of Melbourne)
Bachelor of Environmental Science (Deakin University)
